President, Executive Director:
Michelle is a Startup Facilitator, i.e a Startup Cheerleader having worked with Colorado startups and entrepreneurs for the past 10 years. She has been volunteering with Peak Start up since she moved to Colorado Springs in 2013, served as the Program Coordinator in 2015, and became a Board member in 2016. Prior to moving to Colorado Springs, Michelle was involved in the Denver startup ecosystem while managing the Bard Center for Entrepreneurship (now Jake Jabs Center) at CU Denver. Her passion is in facilitating betterment in people, in society, and in life. On top of it all, she likes to have a good time.
Forrest is a graduate of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurism. Since 2014, Forrest has worked for, in, and around several startups, non-profits and corporations in Colorado Springs in a variety of roles, backgrounds and capacities. His passion lies in building and supporting the ideas of his friends, family and community.
Board of Directors:
Sarah is the Director of Business Development & Economic Vitality for Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs, and in her role serves as a central point of contact for any business or developer that wants to start, expand, enhance services or relocate within downtown. A passionate supporter of Colorado Springs’ entrepreneurial ecosystem, Sarah works every day to ensure that downtown serves as the economic heart of the city and is an excellent environment for the growth of new start-ups and entrepreneurs.
Vice Chair, Programs
Jacob is the Executive Director of the Quad Innovation Partnership, a collaboration between CC, UCCS, PPCC and the Air Force Academy that incubates student and alumni innovators. He also manages a financial services company in Uganda that he founded in 2015. A former Venture for America Fellow, Jacob’s background includes managing a $50M VC portfolio, spans multiple startups, and relies on healthy dose of figuring it out as he goes along.
With a history of working at the intersection of public health and innovation, Chelsea has worked with various stage startups and utilized her skills in health promotion, business, and community development to help companies and communities realize their potential across the U.S. and East Africa. During her Peace Corps service in Uganda (2015-2017), she founded Startup Uganda, a nation-wide initiative comprised of camps, mentorship, and a series of regional and national business plan competitions for young Ugandan entrepreneurs. Now the Economic Development Project Manager for the City of Colorado Springs, Chelsea continues her work to promote job creation and entrepreneurship in our community.
Paul is a serial entrepreneur and founder of Tejon Technologies, Inc, a database startup company. He is also an author, having publishing 8 technical books including the Amazon best-selling SQL Server 2008 Bible, and has presented seminars, training courses, and conference sessions in the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Paul started his career as a Data Systems Tech Petty Officer in the US Navy submarine force and has since been awarded the Microsoft MPV twelve times. Paul is enthusiastic about the design and health of startups, mastermind groups, and sharing wisdom between founders.
Leif is the CEO and Co-Founder of KidReports, a SaaS platform for Child Care providers that connects parents and child care centers in real time. Leif brings over 15 years of software development experience, primarily focused on US Department of Defense and other advanced military and intelligence applications. He holds a B.S in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Colorado. In addition, Leif received his Executive MBA from the University of Denver.
Vice Chair, Advancement
Chris has founded, invested in, and mentored more than 20 high technology startups, focusing on software, data center, and defense electronics technologies. He has served on numerous startup and nonprofit boards to drive the entrepreneurial ecosystem including the board of Startup Colorado.
Kathy is an Executive & Career Transition Coach with A Shift Happens, Inc. She loves using her own life experiences to support others in embracing empowering new perspectives for their lives. Often referring to herself a “recovering corporate executive”, Kathy knows first-hand the value of thinking differently and is excited to join 1MC to nurture an attitude of collaboration & innovation in the Pikes Peak region.
Margaret has been in the technology business for over 25 years holding various management positions as CFO and COO. She has been involved in four successful acquisitions, assisting and negotiating with VCs and major corporations with pre and post acquisition activities. In her last position as CFO, she was an integral part of the executive team responsible for the successful turnaround of an annuity software company. In her free time, Margaret enjoys biking, hiking and golfing.
Sylvia is a business owner who has spent 30 years encouraging entrepreneurs, innovators and community members who are transforming Colorado Springs into a world class city. She has a background in journalism, working as a television reporter and co-host of news and interview programs prior to starting her own business. As an owner of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices downtown, Sylvia passionately supports the startup ecosystem and creating a vibrant economy.
Jeremy is a graduate of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and International business. While studying at UCCS, Jeremy co-founded the Entrepreneurship & Innovation club, started a high growth real estate investment & management portfolio. He is actively striving to further make it an entrepreneurial epicenter, innovation hub, and highly desirable destination for young professionals while contributing & founding several startup companies in Colorado Springs.
